FINAL DAYS OF SCHOOL

Oh my, is this really the end of a wonderful school year? Can’t believe it! I have enjoyed this bunch of little people so very much. They have been a lot of fun…sweet, thoughtful, hard working, happy, conscientious; I really could go on and on. They have worked with me to build another part of their foundation in reading, math, grammar, spelling and religion.

I commend you on your support and guidance that you have pursued through the school year with your child. I laid the ground work, the review and drill for mastery in skills and you have helped reinforce these skills with me at home. I am grateful for that.

Now as we go into the well earned weeks of summer, days of relaxing, taking vacations etc. I urge you to insure a daily routine of having your child read. Many of the kids have developed the love of independently diving into a chapter book and story books. That thrills me and I don’t want that to diminish.

I also urge the consistent drill of math facts (their recall is awesome now) but will be lost without that reinforcement. You could add facts for 13, 14 etc. (addition/subtraction) to their challenge too. You will be that much ahead for Mrs. Scannell. Please include money counting, telling time and 2digit adding & subtracting (no carrying over). Google can become your best friend in reinforcing concepts with your child. Use Google by typing in key words such as; interactive math games for 1st grade, online games for 1st grade etc.

Again, thank you so much for letting me become a part of your child’s development. I will truly miss them and enjoyed each and every one of them.

Enjoy your summer with each other and be safe. See you back in the Fall and come by and visit me.
